পরিভ্রমণ করেন দড়্গণি আমেরিকা, উত্তর আফ্রিকা, মেক্সিকো ও ইউরোপের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চল।
১৯৭৪ সালে ব্রাজিলে ফিরে গীতিকার হিসেবে কাজ শুরম্ন করেন। তৎকালীন সামরিক সরকার ওই বছর তাঁকে গ্রেফতার করে অšত্মর্ঘাতী কর্মকা-ের অভিযোগে। সামরিক শাসকগোষ্ঠী সম্ভবত তাঁর গানের কথাকে বামপন্থী ভাবধারার এবং বিপজ্জনক বলে মনে করেছিল। লেখালেখিকে ক্যারিয়ার হিসেবে নেয়ার আগে অভিনেতা, সাংবাদিক ও নাট্যপরিচালক হিসেবেও কাজ করেছেন।
প্রথম তিন বই হেল আর্কাইভস, দ্য প্র্যাকটিক্যাল ম্যানুয়াল অব ভ্যাম্পায়ারিজম ও দ্য পিলগ্রিমেজ। কোনোটাই তেমন বিক্রি হয়নি।
